After five years of collaboration, we had the privilege of reimagining Too Rise Up’s entire brand, transforming their logo and website into a vibrant reflection of their community-driven mission. Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at how this transformation unfolded.

From Humble Beginnings to a Bold New Era

In 2019, Too Rise Up came to life with a clear mission: uplifting and empowering communities. I had the pleasure of designing their first logo and website, which served its purpose at the time. The original design was straightforward and functional—featuring a vibrant color palette and a welcoming feel, but over time, both the organization and I evolved.

After five years of growth, experience, and lessons learned, it became clear that the brand needed a refresh—something that could better reflect their expanding impact and engage their community on a deeper level. Due to a few bumps in the road during our journey, I offered to upgrade their branding and digital presence as a way to show my appreciation and make up for any previous inconveniences.

Before: A Look Back at the Original Design

When we first created Too Rise Up’s logo and website, the goal was simple: craft an identity that felt approachable and community-focused. The original logo (seen below) featured bold colors and typography but lacked the energy that truly embodied the heart of the organization. The website, while functional, felt basic and didn’t fully capture the spirit of Too Rise Up’s work.

Key Points of the Original Design:

  • Logo: Simple typography, direct, but lacked depth and symbolism.
  • Website: Basic user interface with a limited focus on user engagement.
  • Visual Appeal: Though the original design was vibrant, it didn’t fully convey the organization’s impact.

The Transformation: A Bold New Identity

Fast forward to today, and what we have is a complete transformation—one that mirrors the growth and energy of Too Rise Up and its mission. The new logo is bold, dynamic, and visually striking, featuring a phoenix rising from the ashes, symbolizing empowerment, resilience, and transformation. The updated website is not only visually appealing but also designed to enhance user experience and drive engagement with Too Rise Up’s cause.

Key Enhancements in the New Design:

  • Logo Evolution: The new phoenix logo radiates vibrancy and life, a perfect symbol of rising up and overcoming challenges.
  • Modern Website: Sleek and user-friendly with a modern interface that reflects Too Rise Up’s mission. The use of bold imagery, clear navigation, and accessibility features ensures every visitor can easily engage.
  • Calls to Action: Prominent and strategically placed buttons for donations, volunteering, and getting assistance have been designed to boost participation and support from the community.
  • Merchandise Integration: The addition of the TRU merchandise shop (with all proceeds going directly to the organization’s programs) gives supporters another way to get involved.

The Creative Process: From Rough Drafts to Final Masterpieces

Reimagining the Too Rise Up brand wasn’t just about slapping on a new coat of paint; it was about deeply understanding its mission and creating a resonated identity. We started with rough drafts and conceptual sketches, exploring various design directions. Once we aligned on the phoenix theme for the logo, everything else fell into place.

On the website side, I focused on improving usability, creating a space that felt both warm and professional, while ensuring visitors could easily find information, get involved, or support the cause.


The Results: A Brand That Truly Soars

Since launching the new brand, the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. The new logo and website do more than just look good—they speak to the heart of what Too Rise Up stands for. They’re now better positioned to connect with their audience, inspire action, and grow their impact.

The organization is especially thrilled with the integration of its merchandise line, which will quickly become a hit with supporters. It’s another example of how a strong digital presence can empower nonprofits to not only spread their message but also create new streams of engagement.
